PSR Update: March 11, 2016

You may have noticed that our website has changed. Our PSR home page can now be found at: http://stpeterchanel.org/faith-formation-education/psr. Once you get there, you will see six different categories. Click on any picture to access the information you need. Let us know if you have trouble finding anything…we’re always just a phone call or email away!

Palm-Sun-Mass-300x225Please join us for our Palm Sunday Family Masses on March 20th! These Family-centered Masses will be held in McNamee Hall at 9:00 am and 10:45 am in addition to the regular Masses in the church.  Details and sign-up information can be found here.

LentProjects300Lent is coming to and end as will our PSR Service projects. If you haven’t had a chance to turn in your donations, please be sure to send them in before Easter Sunday.

VBS-Barnyard-300x225Registration for our 8th Grade Connections Retreat as well as our Middle School Mission Camp is already underway.  Registration for VBS Barnyard Roundup begins on Monday, March 14th at 10:00 am. And registration for Fall PSR Sessions begins on Tuesday, March 29th. Click on the links to access detailed information and the registration forms.

Our Confirmation Transition Meeting for rising 10th Grade candidates and parents is on Sunday, March 13th from 2-3:30 pm in the church. A make-up will be held on Sunday, March 20th from 3:30-4:30 pm in Classroom 6/7. Additional Confirmation dates include:

  • March 29 – PSR Registration Begins
  • April 17 – 8th Grade Parent Meetings, 10:30 am & 6:30 pm
  • May 15 – 10th Grade Summer Registration due
  • June 30 – 9th Grade Fall Registration due

Ultimate Escape Social 2Our Youth Ministry program is as busy as ever! The Sunday Night Live Merciful Series concludes this weekend. Permission slips for the Ultimate Escape Social on April 20th and our Mercy Works: Give Drink to the Thirsty on April 23rd are up on the website. You can find these and more events on the Youth Ministry Calendar on the website.

PSR Update – Dec 29

Hello, we’re back! Well for two days at least. The PSR offices are open Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. We’ll be back to our regular office hours starting on January 4th.

In the meantime, enjoy another free weekend. PSR classes will resume on Sunday, January 10th and Wednesday, January 13th. Please take this opportunity to check our program calendars for upcoming dates:

Sunday PSR, Good Shepherd & EDGE sessions resume for all youth in Grades PreK through 8th. Our high school Bible Study, The Word With Friends, is also back in session.

Sunday Night Live – All high school teens are invited to our next three-part series, “Alive & Dangerous.” Come our for a fun evening as we explore our desire for God, our call to live extraordinary lives, and obstacles that get in our way.

Catholic HEART Parent Meeting – A parent must attend this required meeting before your teen can register for our Summer mission trip to Greensboro, NC on June 12-17.

Parent/Child Eucharist Workshop – Workshops will take place in the morning and afternoon. All children preparing for the sacrament and a parent are required to attend. Details for the day will be emailed to parents in advance.

First Communion Parent Meetings – All parents of First Communicants are requested to attend one of these meetings to get important sacrament information and select your Mass time.

Confirmation Foundation Session 3 – Year 1 Candidates who are not currently attending an Archdiocesan High School are required to attend. This session will focus on “How We Are to Have Life in Christ.”

 

PSR Update – Dec 1, 2015

So many things to do, so little time! Can you believe that Advent is already here? This is a busy time for our parish and our families…and we have plenty going on before we break for Christmas. Be sure to take a look at our PSR and Youth Ministry offerings and get them on your calendar so you don’t miss out!

nativity christmas pageantPlease join us in the church or parish hall at 4:00 pm on December 24th for our Christmas Eve Family Masses. Many angels and shepherds are needed! Children and youth ages 4 to 18 years are invited to participate in the Masses as greeters, ushers, lectors as well as being part of the Gospel drama. Please complete the Online Registration Form by December 16th!

If you love to sing, please consider joining the youth choir rehearsals for these Masses on December 1st and 15th from 4:45pm-5:30pm in the choir room. Contact Jane Jackson: jjackson@stpeterchanel.org if you are interested.

countdown to christmasThere are two special events open to our Middle School youth. On Saturday, December 12th, we will be going to XLT Atlanta; and Sunday, December 20th is our social at Snow Mountain. See the Middle School Event Calendar for details.

We also have some special events for our high school teens. We will be going to Roswell Nursing Home on Friday, December 11th to entertain the residents with an Open Mike Night. On Sunday, December 13th, all teens are invited to Superheroes of Style. And our high school Christmas Extravaganza is on Sunday, December 20th.  See the Youth Ministry Calendar for details.

Upcoming teen service opportunities include Breakfast With Santa on December 12-13th and Happy Birthday Santa on December 13th. See the Teen Service page on the website for details and RSVP online.

Reconciliation Workshop slideOur Reconciliation Parent/Child Workshops are this Saturday, November 14th.  Details for the day will be emailed to parents on Wednesday, November 11th. Please keep our First Communicants and their families in your prayers!

advent eventYou are invited to our Parish Advent Event on Saturday, November 21st from 5:30-8:00 pm. Join us for dinner followed by an inspirational talk and your choice of fun activities. The parish will provide salad, rolls and drinks, but we need your help to provide baked ziti and desserts.  RSVP to Event     Food Sign Up

YM Advent Candle SaleAdvent is just around the corner! Our teens will be selling Advent Candles after all Masses this weekend and next weekend. All proceeds will benefit our Youth Ministry programs. Thanks for your support!

Daylight Savings Time ends at midnight on Halloween. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Saturday night, so you won’t be “Left Behind.” There are no PSR classes this weekend, but we do hope you will join us for one of our All Saints Day Family-Centered Masses (see below).

all saints family massesTo cap off our mission week, we invite all people of the parish to join us as we come together in community to celebrate our All Saints Day Family-Centered Masses this Sunday, November 1st. Masses will be offered at 10:45 am and 12:15 pm in McNamee Hall. Everyone is invited to dress as a saint and join us in our entrance procession. Please arrive 10 minutes early to line up if you would like to participate.

CANDY COLLECTION FOR CANCER
Sunday, November 1 – ONE DAY ONLY!!!
halloween candyBring your extra and unwanted Halloween candy with you to church this Sunday, November 1st. Our teens will be collecting it before and after all Masses this weekend to donate to a local cancer home. Any and all wrapped candy will be accepted, so bring your hard candy, chewy candy, sour candy, chocolate candy…whatever you don’t want or don’t need. We appreciate your support, and it will go to a good cause!

PSR Update – Oct 11, 2015

Dear PSR Families,

dove_cookiesWe will be celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation with our 10th grade candidates in less than two weeks! If you love to bake, please consider making some cookies for our Confirmation Receptions on Saturday, October 24th. We will need several dozen for our morning and afternoon receptions! Please RSVP online if you can help. We also need parishioners to help set up, serve and clean up after the receptions. Contact Kendra Lockhart at klockhart@stpeterchanel.org if you would like to volunteer.
