First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion
The Archdiocese requires that children preparing for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion attend Foundational Preparation for two years, beginning in the first grade. Children and parents also participate in Sacramental Formation during the second year. Children who turn 7 by September 1, 2012 and have completed first grade Formational Religious Education may begin to prepare to celebrate the two sacraments in the spring of 2013.

Parent Support Materials for First Communion and First Reconciliation
Special programs (see “OCIC” section on Sacrament Preparation tab) are available for children who are in grade 2 or higher and have no previous religious education. Programs vary according to your child’s situation.
